After a long flight and good night sleep, we awoke to clear skies and a windex colored Caribbean sea. This place is spectacular, beyond a 5 star resort. Staff are just around the corner ready and willing to assist. Cisco really takes good care of their people!
I've been asking around and talking with locals. Many have suggested markets and areas to visit to try different tastes. Coconut, banana and guava seem to draw the most interest, so I will focus on developing those flavors.
We are taking the Jitney into Nassau soon to go to a market called "fish fry". Locals have recommended conch fritters, fry snapper and a Bahamian specialty, macaroni & cheese.
Swam in 2 of the 9 pools, jumped off a 12 ft. cliff into a blue hole and visited with a couple turtles and lots of fish in the ocean in front of the Baha Mar.
On my way, but here are a couple photos of my day so far...
Rode the Jitney (local bus) into Nassau proper. Cost was $1.25 each way and a fun experience with locals and tourists alike! First stop was to the "Fry Fish" area on Junkanoo Beach. This area is loaded with street vendors and stand alone restaurants selling everything from conch fritters to amazing BBQ along with some pretty funky drink options. Missing was a caramel booth!
After feasting we continued down the way and visited with even more food vendors. Met a representative from the Ministry of Tourism and was invited to meet even more local food producers including a chocolatier and rum producer..
